I would supply approximate costs but don't have the model number.
Here's the test I use before I give the diagnosis that the keyboard failed. I plug in some USB PC keyboard then test. If the external keyboard works then I call the laptop keyboard failed.
So far in some hundred plus replacements only one laptop had a bad motherboard.
Figure 20 to 99 bucks for the keyboard (no model number means I can't be specific.)
This is usually a minor repair job.
Hi all
Thanks for any help you can give.
About a month ago, the numbers above the letters stopped working on my the keyboard of my dell laptop. The numbers on the keypad were working... then I googled some fixes and managed to disable those as well which locked be out of my computer since the password contains digits. Managed to fix that then reverse the keypad lock, but none of the standard fixes online that I could find worked. Most of the numbers on my keyboard above the letters are still not working with the except ion of 5, 6 and the - and = and ` symbols.
Thanks so much
