... except that Kerry's word comes up far more often in common dialogue.
... even a jargon used specifically for nukes (as opposed to pronouncing nuclear properly for other uses such as "nuclear family") by those in the "business". Sometimes you pick these things up and they just stick. If it's refinement you are looking for, Kerry seems to have changed his voice completely since his days lying in Senate hearings, and yet idearr comes through all too often. Not to mention unequivocably -- a "big" word that one uses deliberately enough to pronounce it correctly! He did it in a debate. What a boob!
I think it may well be a regionalism.
And yes, you are being petty. Incredibly so.
