ntoskrnl.exe

I just purchased a new sony vaio notebook computer (VGN-S360)for my son. when we started it the screen states the following (windows root)\system32\ntoskrnl.exe file is corrupt. Any suggestions. I tried going to BIOS and and loaded default values for all setup items to no avail.

There were no recovery disks with this computer.

Operating system is XP home.

No recovery or OS disks....

with a new computer? Sony is telling you, you are out of luck when trying to fix a Windows problem. Call and demand the cds or return it for your money back. This is most likely an OS problem.
