ntfs and windows cd

by yukibaby / June 23, 2007 6:32 AM PDT

when the computer is started, it gives the message: ntfs.sys is either missing or corrupted. I has search the forum and have read the doc. Q822800 as suggested. I put in the Windows XP cd, it begin to load but it only load to the blue screen (with no option, just say window setup). I even download the bootable floppy file from Microsoft and try it.... the computer is not reading the diskette (the bios booting order start with the floppy drive)..... I have a lot of files on the hard drive.... can anyone tell me what else to try?

It is a home build system with 2 harddrives: 80GB and 120GB, using Windows XP Professional
P.S. When system starts up, it shows all drives!

Please help!

I can't tell and usually don't ask. We have the forum note in red letters asking for details.

Could be that?

Hi yukibaby,

Thanks for your email. I'm sorry but I cannot add anything to what Bob is already telling you. My knowledge of this type of thing is very limited compared to Bob and the other experts here.

Bob has asked you for more information on your system as requested in red at the top of each posting box. The more information you can give on your system specs, the better people here can help. He mentions SATA drives. Do you have SATA drives installed? If so, when you installed XP, did you press F8 at the installation stage to install the SATA drivers?

Mark
