(NT) Works Suite has accidentally been deleted.

Apr 27, 2005 6:59AM PDT

I use an HP Pavilion 7865 and the Microsoft Works Suite has been deleted.
When I try to reinstall, I get an error message saying " MSIEXEC.EXE file is missingexport MSI.DLL.222".
Where can I find this missing file please?

reinstalling the Windows installer (that's what seems to be damaged).

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/wininstall.html tells you where to download the 95/98/ME version, and (from a separate page that it links to) where to download the XP/2000 version. It depends on your OS what you should use, of course.

Hope this helps.

You don't tell HOW you are reinstalling it (although I don't think that that matters for what help I can offer). Anyway, other things to do:

1. Follow the instructions from http://www.pacificdigital.com/kb/article.aspx?id=12251 for this situation. It involves renaming the old files before installing the newly downloaded version of MSI (= Windows installer). I don't know why it should be necessary, but it won't harm at all to do it.

2. Use your HP supplied Recovery CD to restore the machine to it's original state, including MS Works.
