(NT) What's id separator?

by jam4201 / April 2, 2006 11:46 AM PDT

My husband gets the following message when ever he turns on his pc. This just started yesterday. Nothing new has been added lately and nothing taken away. The message is as follows:

Logitech Desktop Mgr.exe lacks a ----- (the app id separator)

I can't make the symbol that comes after 'lacks a'. :o(
I Googled this message but since I couldn't make the symbol I didn't get very far.

Can anyone help please? It's very annoying to him.

Try...

Happened before desktop came on ? If it came after Windows loaded, try posting a screenshot.

Scan for viruses and partasites. (Delete cookies and ad-wares.)

Try using System Restore.

Is ''(the app id separator)'' includred in the error message, or is it your description of the symbol ? --and if som where did you get the words to described it ?

You may not be able to ''make'' the symbol, but can you describe it (--looks like....dot in a circle.... etc.)

Lately, Logitec Has Been Adding "BackWeb" Foistware to
by tobeach / April 2, 2006 5:02 PM PDT

it's products software (57 folders of it according to my Spybot Scan which I used to remove it). It claims to be for updating the sofware but I beleive it sends gathered info each time it does it's auto update and tries to down load even more & varied with asking/notifying you. If you remove and update manually, It will re-install the BackWeb. It's probably crying for some more salable info from you.
I removed the 57 and manually disabled the auto update feature and all works well. If I do update, I'll use Spybot to get rid of it again.
Note: If you do a "Find Files & Folders" on Backweb, ONLY 4 will be shown! I suspect Spybots thorough removal disables some of the NAGs (prompts) which may be what your getting.
I could be wrong and it's become corrupted some how. As suggested, a system restore to 2/3 days ago should put it back in it's place. Happy

That's Good News! Here's a Link for (Free) Spybot S&D....

which I consider a "must" have. Fine for basic users (just Dwnld, Install & use internal updater, & scan. Let fix any it finds.)
Once comfortable, there's "Advanced Mode" (basic is default) which has **many** more protective devices included and strongly advised to use. Includes start-up list(with ability to able/disable each for faster operation), Ability to Lock your home & start pages to prevent hijacking, along with making your hosts file read only for same purpose, bad download blocker which blocks incoming cookies etc in I.E.(with or without notifying you of each attempt: your choice), A overall settings lock (Tea Timer) which prevents malware from altering settings to aid in their invasion(asks you before allowing change) & much more! Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
