''Aero'' is a name for the new graphics found in Vista. They will feature a glass-like appearance (hence the name ''Aero Glass'') and translucent windows.

Microsoft says Vista should be released by the end of 2006.

The tentative schedule for Vista is as follows:

Tomorrow: Feature-complete
12-07-05: BETA 2
04-19-06: Release Candidate 0
06-28-06: Release Candidate 1
08-09-06: Released to manufacturing
11-15-06: Broadly available.

For a sneak peek at Aero, click here for a short video presentation and discussion of the new user interface from Kam Vedkat, the lead program manager.

Hope this helps,
John
