(NT) Teenager in Video Production class

May 13, 2006 6:08PM PDT

I am currently a junior in high school and I want to major in teledramatic arts when I graduate. Next year I am taking a video production class at school. THe only camcorder my family has right now is an old vhs-c and it sucks. My parents said we might be able to split the cost of a new digital camcorder. I was thinking mini-dv. What would be a good camcorder to get? Is Zoom Microphone really that helpful or should i not worry about it? Thanks for the input.

An external microphone is a great idea. Happy shopping.

Sonys camcorders are quite nice overall. Do not go with a miniDVD format. Very hard(near impossible to get on a computer(past experience)). MiniDV is the way to go if your price range is from $300-$700.
