10X and IS
Jun 12, 2005 1:54PM PDT

There are only two cameras with 10X and IS:

Nikon 8800
Canon S1 IS

The Nikon 8800 would be the best and the most expensive.

.......................

Now if you would consider 12X and IS, there are more cameras to choose from:

Konica Minolta Z5
Canon S2 IS
Panasonic FZ-20, FZ4, FZ5
Sony H1

...

X 10 requires stable camera for electronics to work well
Jun 14, 2005 2:24AM PDT

The problem with X8 and X10 optical zoom is holding the camera still while the automatic focus, and light settings are made. I bought an Olympus C2100 Camedia that has a stabelized lens feature that is wonderful. I've taken pictures of flying pelicans over moving water at full zoom that are pretty clear when printed 8X10 inch Usual zoom of tops of castles, people on the beach from a block away, birds in trees, etc are amazing. The only problem is the digital lag, you don't know how much delay until later. I now take 2-3 shots and review later and delete the poor ones. Helps me get better at framing anyhow.
