(NT) Please stop popup of AOL instant mess

Every time I use Outlook Express the d___ instant messenger starts. My kids use it, I don't. I have to close it, it asks if I really want to close it and I have to click yes. Then I click exit on the icon in the tray. I have removed it on startup but it still starts on OE startup. Is there a settings option to start it only when someone clicks the desktop icon?
