(NT) Outlook 2002 - Can't open HTML links in mail received.

Feb 9, 2006 8:14AM PST

Help! I feel like I am loosing my mind and can't find help anywhere else. I am running Win XP home, Office 2002 standard and Norton Internet Security 2006, Norton System Works 2005. I also have Internet Explorer V6, SP2.
About a month ago my email started acting really weird and I can no longer follow a link in a message received. I can't reply to an HTML link. It is so frustrating! I am not an expert and am stumped. Any assitance is greately appreciated since it is a real problem when I receive some work related messages that must be replied to from within the mail received. I can't just keep copy/ paste all those links. Crazy!
Thank you all in advance........

Outlook 2002 - Can't open HTML links in mail received.
Feb 10, 2006 8:29AM PST

The message I get when I click on a link in a message is:
This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

No specific error message number or any other info or explanation. It is so exasperating because I am the "computer administrator" using the WinXP acounts setting. Also, same for the Norton Internet Security settings, and for System Works.

I have looked up IEFIX and read a bit there, but the issues described there don't seem to be the same as I am experiencing. I will however read more and give it a try..

Please, those Outlook gurus out there, give me your opinion! I would hate to have to install Office again and risk loosing all my email account info, etc.
Thanks....

Outlook uses bits and pieces of IE and the OS. Your choice to pass up on what I use.

For the gurus: check out this site and translate for dummies

OK, I have been busy reading and researching and have found what appears to be a page that looks promising to address my Outlook 2002 problem. I will try to insert a link now:

http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup.htm

This page addresses the security update patches and some issues that created that sound like mine. Ouch. Problem is that this is all way above my level of (lack of) expertise and so I am pleading with you gurus to check it and perhaps tell me what the heck all that info means.
Do any of you think something there would help repair my problem?

Thanks to you all out there for taking the time to read and hopefully, offer help.
