(NT) LPT3 needs to be LPT1

by oiptoner / July 17, 2006 11:07 AM PDT

Added a PCI Parallel Port card to a new Dell Dimension, but it is coming up as LPT3. I have a DOS accounting program which is hard coded to only recognize LPT1 as the printer port. Need to get the parallel port to be reconized as LPT1.

The gritty details are missing. I've done this with a Lava PCI card. So many times I no longer read the manual.

Right click My Computer
Device Manager
Right click on parallel port
click on drop down
click on new port designation

Voila! And it worked. Thanks for trying.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
