Opps Steve...you guys overseas probably didn't get Governor Arnold's Schwarzenegger speech at the Republican National Convention just now. He gave a tremendous and brilliant speech including the dream of coming to America and what having a strong president means for our nation. The people just love him, more so I believe after his speech.

Some satellite channel may show the convention

In reply to: Re: (NT) Was this meant to be a leading post?

I only have the standard 5 channels John and none of them appear to be showing anything.
I think Arnold will do very well as a politician.
Reminds me of one of your ex-presidents, Regan, who also had a very similar career background.

No prob on the spelling Steve, I sometimes do it as Regan by mistake.

Arnold's speech was live on all the US major networks including PBS, and a lot of the satellite news channels. He did manage to include "I'll be back" in part of a story and also squeeze in his famous "Girlie" for a laugh and applause.

Arnold kicked ***!

That was a fine speech and I'm proud of the man.

And shame on the anti-American girlie men.

The American Dream.......and he is a fine example of what people can achieve in their lives with it if they are determined enough.

I believe it was our member 'dragon' here who posted to me asking if I would be in favor of amending the constitution so that Arnold could run for President. Although I truly admire Arnold and his achievements from the day he arrived in America, I'm not sure I would favor a Constitutional Amendment that would 'let/allow' him to run. This is something I would have to think about long and hard considering that although Arnold personally might be a good candidate and the citizens trust him so much, a Constitutional Amendment opening that door leaves it wide open for future sharks to swim through and we have enough trouble dealing with 'born here Americans' running for that office and what we've ended up with at times.

Can you imagine having a person in power here that has deep and very hidden hatred for our country and used that hatred for his/her personal agenda by biding his/her time over the years to move into a position that would put him/her at the top rung? We already have had pretty scary people in that spot out of trust and that's a shame....I think I would prefer to keep that field narrowed down, and that's an even bigger shame.
