(NT) Admin password required after reformat of Windows XP

by pschrantz / October 9, 2005 8:10 AM PDT

I did a reformat and reload of windows. I did have a few error messages but I thought that the installation was successful. At the end of the installation windows restarted itself. Now it prompts me for an administrator password that I did not set up and do not know. I have tried to reboot multiple ways and even booting in safe mode gives me this mesage. What do I need to do?

or Cancel without entering a password.

If this is the systems own Administrator and not one you have set up, it probably does not yet have a password set.

I tried just clicking ok and the cancel button is grayed out. I tryed no password, admin, and all old passwords that have been used on the computer. Nothing works.

I can not get past this log on screen. I cannot get to the start menu or control panel and I get this message even when trying to reboot the recovery disk and reformat.
