Yup.

Try a simple hello world in C++ and almost all virus scanners may flag that. Talk about overly protective.

Official NSIS Installer

In reply to: Yup.

Yeah but I am talking about official nsis installer and it's getting detected as a threat only in mcafee. other virus guards are fine. Also found a similar thread on mcafee community that discusses the same issue https://community.mcafee.com/message/355351#355351

Gotta love McAfee.

In reply to: Official NSIS Installer

I'm unsure what the question is now. You asked if I've seen it and my answer is yes.

Thanks for the answer

In reply to: Gotta love McAfee.

I was looking for more people who face the same problem with NSIS and looking to report false positive. Whoever interested could simply do so.

What I didn't do and problably have should have done.

I have taken a look at the thread link you posted. I will create a new discussion there as well hopefully Mcafee will take an action soon, we have submitted the false positive report as well.

The thing is

In reply to: Thanks

This looks to be a McAfee issue and not a NSIS issue at all.

Do you see a day where any app that isn't from Microsoft, Apple, Google get branded as a possible threat?

Mcafee is to blame

In reply to: The thing is

Yes this is no issue of NSIS. Mcafee hasn't taken an action about this for years yet other VAs have and white listed.

Anyhoo thank you for your replies on this subject

exactly

In reply to: NSIS installer and Mcafee

This issue has been there for a long time and I don't know why mcafee is very silent about this.

Good news

In reply to: exactly

Good news that Mcafee has finally white listed official NSIS installer but still the problem persists with many programs that use nsis installer.

The thing is, some of the members are spamming this.

In reply to: Good news

The IP check of the members here and more checks seems this is just spamming in various places for reasons they may only know.

You've lost a lot of cred here.
