Now that Trump is refusing to do any "tv debates"

Mar 16, 2016 7:48PM PDT

I think it's time for the boob tube to stop ALL interviews with Trump.

Take the "boob" OFF the "tube"

Discussion is locked

I heard his response about a prior commitment
Mar 17, 2016 1:29AM PDT

and his mention that there was no reason to ask the same questions over and over. He's probably right about the debates. They aren't debates anyway. You'll still have Trump to moan about and maybe even more than ever. He'll be making speeches daily and being collared by the media to make comments. Somewhere in his several hours of daily chatter there will be a few seconds of what he says that light up a reporter's ears as striking a controversial chord with someone. Those will be grabbed and you will hear them. Anything of substance is just fill time anyway.

I was surprised to see that Kasich canceled next though
Mar 17, 2016 2:49AM PDT

He whined every day about how he never got asked questions by the moderators and had to sit on the sidelines while the 'Trumpfest' was happening and the voters never got much of a chance to get to know his platform and had no 'face or name recognition' except in Ohio.

Well, with only two on the stage, he would have had a whole lot of time to accomplish those feats and backed out immediately when he heard Trump wasn't going to be there. His excuse was that he wanted to debate Trump.....but isn't Cruz also beyond his reach (or has a deal already been cut)?

I'm on Kasich's side here
Mar 17, 2016 4:13AM PDT

You call it "whining" and I call it being true to his stance to stay out of the mud. Not all who started that way, stayed that way. If Trump is to believed that he was already committed before receiving the invite, it would have only been Kasich and Cruz up there. Do you think Fox would be happy to host such a snoozer? Do you think these "debates" really offered anything of substance? I think these were media entertainment events that didn't serve the public at all but about the only way candidates could keep their name's alive. Personally, I'm proud of how our governor behaved and I'm ashamed at how our media has behaved as well as how our public has behaved when in front of their cameras.

As a side note, I think that a number of the Republican candidates could have carved up Trump like an overdone turkey had these events been in true debate format and comments such as "Little Marco" and his uncountable condescending remarks were disallowed. I was also sad to watch Rubio stoop to Trump's level but he certainly redeemed himself in his departing speech. I fully expect you'll disagree entirely. So be it.

Actually, I DO agree with most of what you said,
Mar 17, 2016 4:31AM PDT

I only said that Kasich WAS doing a lot of interviews whining about the same thing that Carson et al were complaining out....not enough time/questions given by the moderators because they were all, Fox included, focused on the 'clown' show called Trump from the very beginning. Since he's only mainly recognized in Ohio and needed the 'face recognition' in the debates, in order to get his platform across to the nation, I would think he would welcome a debate with only two on stage because without Trump, the answer time would have been tripled from before. Cruz has many stances that are in line with Trump, so Cruz would still be a formidable foe to debate with....does Kasich no longer see Cruz as debatable? Kasich is a class act.....however, when he was even just in town halls, his speeches actually became boring to watch and listen to because nothing ever changed. How many times can you hear the same thing over and over as if, like Rubio, it was all canned and memorized word for word? Unfortunately, that is the same type of speeches that you get from HC.....after a while, you begin to tune it out because the excitement just isn't there, which unfortunately, I believe is Kasich's downfall no matter how competent he is (Romney did the same 'sing song' type speeches and lost twice).

Well...I'm sick of people saying that they are tired
Mar 17, 2016 4:54AM PDT

of all the fighting while, at the same time, they want to watch candidates fight. Look at Hillary's signs saying "Fighting for us" or saying she's fighting for "you". To be fighting, you need an opponent. Who is that opponent? Is it other Americans? We don't need another president who pits Americans against each other.

I could really think our media wants Hillary and Trump to face one another just for that reason. They think it will give them the two best fighters out there. They want to see blood on the ground and not good sportsmanship.

from behind the curtains, and officially declaring your support of Trump?

his plans for various issues, go to his website.....there is nothing vague about his plans....they're laid out in pretty good detail.

OK...here's one

Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do, the United States will, among other things: impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages; increase fees on all temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats (and if necessary cancel them); increase fees on all border crossing cards – of which we issue about 1 million to Mexican nationals each year (a major source of visa overstays); increase fees on all NAFTA worker visas from Mexico (another major source of overstays); and increase fees at ports of entry to the United States from Mexico [Tariffs and foreign aid cuts are also options]. We will not be taken advantage of anymore.

Stop the remittance payments? That might work for one week...IF that long...do you really think that plan could be carried out secretly? They'll find another way to get their wages back to the motherland.

Comments on THAT point...and that point only try and stay focused.

FINALLY... a liberal who admits
Mar 17, 2016 5:52AM PDT

this is EXACTLY what we've been saying for years.........

" They'll find another way to get their wages back to the motherland."

11M illegals, making roughly $400 per week minus $100 living expenses (many share homes and rides and meals) x 52 weeks......how many billions is sent back to the 'motherland' regularly? However, let's keep the numbers realistic...

11M illegals, of which half are expired visas and should be deported anyhow immediately, and another couple of million are either children or in jail (being supported with housing, guards, food, etc.), leaves about 4.5M making wages leaving our country. 4,5M x $300 per week sent back x 52 weeks = $70,200,000,000 minus small state, local, and federal taxes. What are we gaining compared to the cost to shipping them out of here?

Stay on topic, JP.....focus. Isn't it cheaper to send them ALL home except for maybe 500K that are parents of children and I think the country could live with letting them stay?

Mar 17, 2016 8:31AM PDT

Issue licenses, to raise funds, which allow each licensee a 100 foot section of fence to guard and his freedom to shoot anyone who digs under or comes over the top. You will see our border become so secure you can't even imagine how secure it would then be.

NO......For what purpose....

You provide numbers, Trump provides a "plan" I show how his "plan" won't work..Your "numbers" only show what's happening...they do NOT show how his "plan will "work"

You have no comment on my rebuttal of Trumps "plan"?

You and Fortune are
Mar 17, 2016 10:35AM PDT

ignoring the fact that technology doesn't stop at transactions as a one-way only street.....OUR technology is just as rapidly evolving, so what Fortune is 'seeing into the future' doesn't hold a lot of water, since that report is from 8 months ago already.

IF illegals and the drug trade are using new technology to get their money back into Mexico, there are other options available from our side that Trump also has listed in his plan that both of you are ignoring completely because there isn't any way to dispute that. You are looking at ONE faction of the plan and declaring the entire thing unworkable.

Which is what you do, JP....you demand that I stay focused but you only focus in on one word or statement in an entire post/script and discredit the whole thing because you can't debate any further than that.

Describe to me how you believe that any plans HC or Sanders have that will work better........oh, wait.....THEY DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER THAN TO TAKE MONEY FROM ANYBODY BUT THEMSELVES. Do you think that HC has all of her and Bill's income in her foundation that they live off of for any other reason than to shelter it from the IRS?

Done.........

Since you suggest the technology is evolving....provide a link. You can "see into the future" and Fortune can't?

Here's another flaw in Trumps "wall"

illegals love to dig "tunnels".

He can build walls as high as he wants. You only have to dig a hole 4 ft deep under a 40 foot wall.

Not all of them
Mar 18, 2016 7:56AM PDT

but it will stop the Mexican issue, and if they do away with "citizenship by birth inside the border", then it will do away with all those "issues" too.

No foreign citizen who births a child here, should have that child claimed as a citizen simply because she was "in country" at the time of the birth. That's just crazy! I don't know any other nation that does that, although may be some. Most follow the common sense rule that a child is citizen of it's parent's home country. In fact it's arrogant to claim births to citizens of other countries are ours. America doesn't have that right.

That's like ranchers running out to brand all the newborn calves born to another ranch, so he can claim they are his. Not even in open range areas was that acceptable.
