The highways are scary anyway you look at it

If you want to save lives, I think the best and most effective recall would be if it could be on a few million drivers rather than the same number of cars. Wink

...are feeling even happier with the "Cube" now. Very practical car, as is the Honda Element.

I was attracted to the Honda Element some years ago, but wife wouldn't have it. She ended up with a Chevy Impala that time instead. Oldest daughter inherited it after the Buick LeSabre came home.

It got a good rating.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety listed the safest cars. Their list was much smaller because they included a rollover one.

http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr111809.html (The entire listing is at the bottom of the article.)

Small cars

Honda Civic 4-door models (except Si) with optional electronic stability control
Kia Soul
Nissan Cube
Subaru Impreza except WRX
Volkswagen Golf 4-door

I felt good that the Cube made it, as well as the Soul I had seriously considered.

2 recalls. One to replace a nit that can be damaged by road salt that is part of the low tire warning, and a new back door (no passengers there) assembly which should be fine until I take it in for its first oil change.

when reading an article a while back about which cars are most likely to be caught speeding. All I can find now is this.

http://autos.aol.com/gallery/vehicle-traffic-ticket

While the Matrix is high on the list, and (as I'd expected) the Hummer is #1, the boxy Scion sold by Toyota holds a lot of the higher positions. I'd think of these as rather conservative vehicles with pipe smoking professors at the wheel but that must not be true.

I'm surprised
Feb 3, 2010 11:55PM PST

In past decades typically "envy cars" ended up with more tickets from officers than butt ugly or less sporty looking vehicles. I guess the Hummer would still qualify for "cop envy" tickets.

At least what I've seen of Hummers here,
Feb 4, 2010 12:23AM PST

their gas pedal has only two positions....On and Off. But I also see a lot of kids with some sort of high reving Hondas with large exhausts that make plenty of noise and can really fly. I am more surprised about the Mercedes sedans on the list as most I've seen tool along with traffic and have suited gentleman on cell phones behind the wheel.

The owner then is baffled as to why after spending that much money on their precious civic, it could still be that damn slow.

YET we still know underneath the hood, the engine is ****. That is what they call a "rice racer"

As shown in the video...NOW they are not slow, or pieces of junk.

you got your Tuners and they go "Drifting"
