Notification area icon size

May 5, 2017 3:11PM PDT

Recently upgraded from a 900p to a 1080p monitor.
The icons in the notification area are rather small.
I can change icon sizes for the desktop but this has no effect on the notification area.
I can change dpi but little or no effect on this area.

Google shows a few hits on this but no good answer.
The area seems to have a fixed icon size.

So the question is, how to make the icons bigger.

I'll play with that and see how much trouble I can get myself into.

Just now I changed the background color of the task bar.
That does not make the icons bigger but the contrast between the two makes them easier to see.
I might end up leaving well enough alone.
