Notepad Saving Files

by kirom97 / June 23, 2007 2:43 AM PDT

I have Win XP Home SP2 .When I try either ?Save? or ?Save as? in Notepad I am presented with a Dialog Box in which the ?save as type? is set by default to ?Text Documents (*.txt).
Clicking on ?Save? in this box has no effect ? the file is not saved - however if I change the ?save as type? to the other alternative offered which is ?all files? the file saves as required to the specified location.
Is this normal? Should it not be possible to save in the first (default) type offered?

* What happens if you leave it on Text Document, erase what's in the File Name field, and then type in the desired filename?

* What happens if you select All Files, then select Text Document and type in a filename?
