Either find a new Pentium M Sonoma notebook (see the Cnet homepage on all the specs of the new upgrade just out 1/19/05) Pentium M Centrinos are the lightest and have the best battery life -- at least 3.5-4 hours using wi-fi and up to 5 hours or more without -and some larger batteries (like the 12 cell on the HPDV1000) may allow you to double those numbers.
The low voltage Athlon 64 Turion 0-- 64 bit notebook -- may be preferable when it appears but it reportedly won't be here until mid 2005.
The Dell 6000 is out now (see their website) and most other manufacturers are releasing new Sonoma Pentium M Notebooks between now and March.
The Pentium M Cpu will end in a 0 not a 5 (like the Pentium M 1.6 730 not the older 725 which is not Sonoma), the system bus is now 533mhz not 400mhz, there is an improved wi-fi with a, b and g (formerly b and go only), faster RAM, new chipset, etc.
This question is probably one of the most posted ones on this forum, but I can't seem to make up my mind. If anybody can help, here are some things I'm looking for in my next notebook:
* full-size keyboard
* 14 or 15 inch display
* light (5 or 6 lbs)
* good battery life (at least 4 hours)
I'm a web programmer, so power is a must, but I also need the notebook to be light and efficient, so I can travel with it. You'd think a programmer would be able to decide, but there are just too many models out there to choose from. Thanks in advance.
