If you try http://www.google.com/search?&q=Kryptonite today you can find a story about the tubular locks in this well known bike lock to have a design weakness that...

"This week, New York City graphic designer Benjamin Running posted on his blog a video demonstrating how a simple plastic pen can be used to pick a Kryptonite lock -- an expensive, U-shaped lock with a round cylinder key mechanism. The posting has drawn more than a quarter-million hits."

As such is the case, many of the laptop cables use this same type lock.

"Reuters also quotes a spokesperson from Kryptonite about how this problem goes beyond just bike locks.

" "This is not just a Kryptonite concern," a Kryptonite spokeswoman told Reuters. "This is an issue with some tubular cylinders, not all. Anything with a tubular cylinder could be a concern including vending machines, coin-operated machines, other security products." "
