INSTALLATION:
So, you installed Windows XP on the new 120GB HD?
Fresh install from Windows XP installation CD?
Did you instal all drivers from the Dell driver CD (any question marks in Device Manager)? That is an older Dell model, so check Dell.com to make sure you have the latest drivers installed for all components.
Did you run Windows Update after XP installation?

Did you run Network Setup Wizard on the new XP installation?
What firewall is running on the new XP installation?
Hello all,
I am completely mystified with my problem. I have a Dell Dimension 8100 desktop computer with a Maxtor 120 gig HD and a Linksys Wireless G setup including the wireless card in my desktop and one in my laptop. The router is connected to my cable in the basement while the desktop is two floors up in my house and laptop one floor up. When I first set the router up I brought the desktop into the basement and configured the router. Then, I brought the desktop back upstairs, inserted the wireless card and installed the software. Everything worked fine and that's where I am right now.
Here's my problem. I just bought a new 120 gig HD for the desktop because the other is old and corrupt somewhat so I wanted to clear it and use it as a slave HD. I installed the wireless card on the new HD the same way I did on the old but for some reason there is no response. I've tried several times to install it but nothing happens. I even copied the entire folder from the other HD and put it right on to the new HD and that doesn't work. So, I turn off the computer put the old hard drive back in the master slot, turn on the computer and start it up - eveything works again. I can't figure out why I cannot get the wireless to work on the new HD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
