Is Canadian law different than the U.S. as far as consumer protection is concerned(?)
You should have noted names of the people you have spoken with along in order for their to be any sort of congruence to your word vs theirs if it boils down the that. Right now you are losing traction in getting the HDTV replaced if you don't have it all documented (hopefully, you do).
My gut feeling is it's still Best Buy's responsibility to get you a new HDTV (from LG, or from inventory) since the process started before 30 days passed. They would logically be the ones who would be responsible for getting you something equivalent of that model if it was no longer available.
Good luck.

A couple months ago I purchased a 47" LG TV from Bestbuy.ca. (Model #: 47LW5000). A couple weeks ago the TV stopped working so I contacted LG. I was informed they would send a third-party over to fix my TV.
The third-party came over and tried to replace the circuitry board on the back of the TV but that did not fix anything. I was then informed by the third party group that I would need to contact LG.
LG was informed the TV still didn't work and began the process to get a new TV. After a week or so the order was processed (on Friday, December 16), so I called LG to ask what to do next. They informed me I had to call Best Buy's headquarters and they would do the rest.
I obliged and called Best Buy (who don't have a 'headquarters' number) and I was put through to warranty, who couldn't do anything and they told me to call my local Best Buy because they deal with the shipment of online orders when their is a problem.
I called the nearest BB and they told me that it was over thirty days so they could not replace the TV, and told me to call LG.
I followed up on that and called LG to explain my last two phone calls, and they said it was Best Buys problem, all they're there to do is process the new TV.
I got the same spiel from BB, talked to a supervisor and she said the circumstance would be escalated to whoever.
So now I turn to you guys, who is actually in charge here/supposed to send me, or at the very least, deliver my new TV to what I would assume is my local Best Buy.
I apologize if this is the wrong forum to be posting in.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message,
