Not moving to dual core anytime soon

by rae2_2 / January 24, 2006 11:10 AM PST

As I age it becomes increasingly LESS important to be "leading edge" in anything. My 3 year old 1.6GHz Pentium & Asus P4B combo is plenty fast enough for most things and works like a charm. Sure, burning a full DVD is time consuming, but that's what "nap time" is for!

Waiting has many rewards! For example, wait about a year 'til after any leading edge machine hits the market and you'll save $1,000 or more. And bugs! I've been around far too long to be caught doing "beta testing" AT MY EXPENSE for billion dollar companies. Intel and AMD can find their own bugs and pay the shot for their removal... once they fix it, I'll buy it!

"Dual core" to me sounds suspiciously like "twice as much trouble at twice the cost." Remember the Tortoise and the Hare, folks.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
