Not Finding OS?

by mdllucas / August 22, 2009 1:57 AM PDT

I am new to this forum and hope you can help.I am having trouble restoring my pc back to factory settings. I have an HP Pavilion A1210n (Athlon 64 2.2GHz, 512MB RAM, 200GB HDD, XP Media Center) when running the restore cd it will ask what do you want to do(1-restore or 2 exit cd)when entering 1 to restore it will start for about 1 second and then go back to the start asking what do you want to do.The reason for restoring is it gives me the message OS missing. How it got that way I dont know. Thanks for any help.

1. If the recovery disc is faulty, then you might get such an error.

2. More probable, is that the hard drive has failed or has become disconnected.. It would explain why you're getting the no OS error and why all attempts with the recovery disc. First, remove the computer tower and reseat the ribbon cable. If that doesn't fix the issue, then replacing the hard drive and then running the recovery discs should put your computer back to its factory state.

Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
