Question

"Not available" on screen when I use remote on Samsung TV?

Apr 14, 2017 9:28AM PDT

I just bought a new Samsung smart TV model #UN55KU6290 and I'm having problems with the remote. Every time I use it for anything other than power a message on the screen says "not available". I have a Comcast box connected to the TV so I can change channels and volume with that so it isn't a huge deal but it is annoying. I can't use the Smart TV features without getting up and toggling the button on the back of the TV, and I haven't actually attempted to use that button to sign into my accounts for the different Smart TV apps, like Amazon. It's not the easiest button to use so I don't know if it will work for that. Is there a way to fix this? I'd just really like a usable remote. Thanks!

Answer
Time to call it in.

Many smart TVs need a firmware update for them to work right. Call in and tell of the problems and have them check your firmware version and address the issues you noted.

That's the plan tonight when I get home! I tried the Samsung service chat function on my phone last night but I kept getting disconnected so it never got further than "take the batteries out of the remote".
