General discussion

Not all things showing up in Taskbar.

Feb 9, 2009 7:08AM PST

Whenever I start my computer, a Dell with Windows Media XP, Some of my icons will show up in the 'active' portion of the taskbar on the bottom right. This is fixed by pulling up Task Manager, ending "explorer.exe" and then running it again.

Is my boot order screwed up or something? How would I go about fixing this? Thanks you!

This may be normal.

Which icons do not show in the System Tray, (Notification Area)?

It may be normal if these icons are flagged as inactive. If you right click the Taskbar and select Properties, then under the Taskbar tab of the window that opens see if there is a tick for "Hide inactive icons". You can customize which icons show or hide.

Try "logging Out" and then log back in. They will reappear. I don't know of any "fix"
