not a valid Win32 application

I am running windows xp on my computer and i get the error "<app name> is not a valid Win32 application" to all .exe applications. Keep in mind that the only things i can open are files and internet explorer I think the cause is a virus. What should i do? Should I just rebbot my computer since i have no backups or can i do anything about it?

I'd reboot and try again.

In reply to: not a valid Win32 application shows many prior discussions. Rather than repeat all that, I think that many of today's owners want this to stop. That is, is it time for a change?

OK, no backups. Since you didn't do such and it's your choice, why was that noted here?
