norton utilities 2001

i now have windows98se,i am thinking of upgrade to win xp home edition.i have norton utilities 2001 that has been a big help in fixing problems on my computer.i also have symantec 2004 anti-virus.i know i can get symantec system works,but it comes with anti virus that i already have.will the norton utilities 2001 work
on windows xp?

I don't see Symantec offering support for this older version. You can use the usual free tools such as Zone Alarm and Free AVG until you upgrade it, BUT the 2004 version of NIS/AV from Symantec doesn't have good user reviews. Look around.

Firstly, see this link regarding Norton and winXP sp2:-
My interpretation of this link is that Norton will only offer "full" assisitance for NSW 2004 if u upgrade to winxp sp2-
Secondly, i have used NSW 2001 and am now using 2003 on Win XP and both "work", but not without problems. And as Bob says there has been quite a few issues with winxp/nsw.
Thirdly, you will find that a few of the enhancements that were available before WinXP are no longer available, but there are just a few additions as well - but overall i find NSW not as useful with WINXP as it was with previous versions of windows.
