Norton took my money

Got free Norton AV with new Compaq for three months. Paid them $29 after that for 1 year updates. NAV became corrupted on my box soon after and I went to their page where they told me to unistall/reinstall. I uninstalled and they refused to send me a reinstall since mine was a free copy. When I received the uninstall advice they neglected to warn me I had to have my own disc. I assumed(big mistake) as a subscriber they would take care of me. They have my $29, I never downloaded a single update and they refuse to make good. I am now a McAfee customer for life. Norton would have gotten a new subscription from me each year 'till the day I died. Who's the marketing genius over there?

Bill, Did You Check ???

...Compaq's "Application Recovery" section. If you're running Windows XP, frequently, there is an option to reinstall selected programs. Although my Compaq doesn't have Norton as one of those programs, your's might. On our computers, it can be reached by clicking on the "Compaq Recovery" icon, or by clicking on Start-All Programs-PC Help & Tools-Compaq Application Recovery.

Hope this helps.

In time ......

In time, you will find that McAfee is just as bad at such things as Norton is. I know ... I've used both in the past. Sad

I would suggest that you find a free anti-virus program that suits your needs. Bob Proffitt likes AVG which is good. But, I prefer avast!4 Home. Both of these are much better than Norton or McAfee.

What's even nicer about avast! is it's wonderful forum for help and information not only from experienced users ... but also from the avast! personel as well!

But, the choice is yours to make. Happy
