my daughter had Norton 2002 or 03 and decided to dump their AV while keeping firewall etc and switching to AVG for AV. She was able to do that (selectively un-install AV Part). Seemed to work but may not be possible with newer versions. How long since you bought? Too late for refund? Good luck ! ![]()
In another thread, I outliined a problem I'm having with Norton Systemworks (specifically the anti-virus portion of that suite of programs) and it's effect on my networked XP computers. Well, I only found out about this glitch after I'd purchased the Systemworks 2005 version. So, my lame question is: if I go to install 2005 because I really like its norton utilities functions (especially Speedisk, way better than defrag), can I avoid the anti-virus part if I do a custom install? That would be logical, but I'm chicken to try it (given what the damn thing did to my network) and I'm the last one to assume that Symantec was thinking logically when they designed their suite of products (especially given the number and quality of complaints about them). So, if anybody has a good idea if this'll work, gimme a holler. Tx, Taz
