norton security/vista/drives/ backing up

Feb 24, 2007 2:52AM PST

I just purchased a laptop with vista. I have two questions.1 I did the quick scan from Norton that came with the computer and it was still runnning after a couple of hours. tried to stop it and it wouldn't stop.Tried to restart computer to stop it and it was "shutting down" but it was taking so long I had to use the power button.2 I backed up my computer for the first time to a dvd but also everything went in to the D Drive(HP recovery). My D drive now has no disk space left and I keep getting reminders that there is low disk space. it was recomended by the computer to back up every day. What hapens to the stuff in the D drive? Should i delete it? What happens next time i back up? does it override what is already in there? Also it took several hours to back up. I can't do this everyday.I have an HP pavillion dv221ous entertainment notebook.960mb amd 64x2 Drive c has79% free, with 105.54 GB and drive D had 6.24 GB I think. This is new to me.Thanks for your help.
