NORTON SECURITY??

by xguy03 / February 15, 2011 10:17 PM PST

Hi, I have had Norton total internet security before. I've always noticed Cnet reviews has rated it #1 or is always in the top 5.

Unless it's my imagination, it seemed to slow my computer down and I assume it's from constantly running background checks. It gave me great protection and just wanted some opinions on Norton, especially the slowing down I mentioned. Maybe it's in my head?? Lol!

Thanks in advance!

It's a personal choice as to whether you want to continue using the program.. Some folks love it. Others prefer to try something with a little less memory consumption.. There are a number of options listed in the special thread from this forum. Free antivirus. Free firewalls. Free antispyware.. It's your choice. Here's that link:

Hope this helps.

In Your Thread From Two Weeks Ago..

xguy..

In the thread you started a couple of weeks ago ("Question about internet security"), you mentioned Kaspersky AV 2011 would expire on February 15th. Since it has now expired, did you decide to use one of the free A/V's suggested, until you made your final decision? You mentioned you were going to use Avast as your A/V. Did you install it?

You also mentioned you 'read some great reviews about Avast', but 'unfortunately it conflicted with Norton'. IF I understood you correctly, and IF you had both A/V's installed, it could very well be why you experienced slowdowns.

It would help the members to know, if you're considering using NIS on Windows 7. Or is it an operating system other than the one you included in your previous thread?

Let us know..

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
