Norton recycle bin

Jun 15, 2004 1:42PM PDT

Hello again......I have another question. I was told to right click on my desktop Norton protected recycle bin icon and empty the bin. The bin is empty but i get a rectangular box called Norton Protection
that says "there are 1,500 protected files in drive C.
it also says "you have 202 proptected files in drive C'
below that are three boxes that say Purge Yours
Purge All and Cancel
Woiuld someone be kind enough to tell me if i should purge any or all or is there a way to find out what these files are?????
thanks again in advance........miller

I also do have norton protection recycle bin in my computer installed by mt brother. While I cannot answer all your questions, I would try to help you in any way I can...
I guess the protected files are the files in drive C that are protected by your Norton AntiVirus Program.(I am not sure), to find out what files are there, right click the icon and select propertes. Click on the Recycle Bin Tab, select the option "All protected files"for "Double Clicking Item Opens:", and click OK. After that, double-dliking on the recycle bin item show reveal the files. Hope that helps... Ckeck out the Norton Site for more details also...

Thank you jtwolverine8. I have a shared computer so i wonder if items such as MSN instant messenger discussions are saved in the area we are referring to.
I really am quite a novice as it regards computers and i apologize for asking what may seem to be juvenile questions to those who are in the know.
thanks... mil

mil,

The Norton Protected Recycle Bin backs up deleted files just in case. You may be able to recover them using Norton Utilities' UnErase function.

Hope this helps!
