I have been using Norton for a long time and come to the conclusion, long ago to never re-new it online either automatic or other wise. Too many problems!
It's best to get two other people who use Norton and buy the Norton that's good for 3 PCs and split the cost 3 ways. It comes out cheaper per person. The last time we did Norton 360v5 it was less than $17.00 each.
The downside is you have to do that every year, but you know it's there with no disappearing acts and no phone calls to Norton Tech, support to people you can't understand.
Another thing you have to do is download the Norton removal tool and clean off anything associated with Norton before installing the new one. I burn it to a CD and use that on all computers.
The whole process takes about a half hour so it's not real time consuming.
Not sure if this is the right group but hopefully someone can help. I had norton internet security 2009 in my computer ( I am running vista 64 bits) anyway yesterday I updated it and when it went back on Norton was gone. I did a file search and no norton found. I was on automatic renewal and they charged my card in June for another year even though it wasn't due till July. I had to go onto the norton website to download it. I am confused usually its renewed without interruption , the scary thing is HOW did they get into my computer to remove the entire program?? What else can they do? Has this happened to anyone else?
