Norton Personal Firewall and Web Based Email

This morning I tried logging in to "Yahoo Mail" thru both Firefox and IE. I was unable to do so (same problem trying to log into hotmail). I got a message:

"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at login.yahoo.com"

However, when I disable my firewall in Norton Internet Security I can connect just fine. I've had Norton firewall for 1.5 years and have NEVER had this problem before; it just started this morning.

Anyone have any insight as to why this is happening?
