Norton Partition Magic 8.0

Jun 14, 2005 8:01AM PDT

I can not get this program to work and nobody at Norton (Symantec) seems able to help me.

I get everything set up to add a second partition to my hard drive and then run the program as instructed. It then tells me I have to restart my computer in order to set up the partition. It gets part way through the process and then comes up with the following error messages:

error 1527 batch can not be run

error 1527 bad update sequence (but I get no hexadecimal location-nothing but the message)

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, or if there might be some software that causes problems with this program. I have tried all of Symantec's suggestions plus some I found on their web site but nothing works.

I've just loaded Norton Partition Magic 8.0 and am having exactly the same problem - error 1527 when I try to modify the C drive. I have checked the drive using chkdsk /r but no improvement.
Have you resolved the problem you had? If so how?

Looks like this thread came to a dead end. Sorry to see that. I was hoping somebody had an answer. I am experiencing the same problem (1527 ERROR - Bad sequence number) and I'm still waiting on Symantec to give me the answer on how to fix it. It's looking like a $80.00 dollar waste on software. I have also tried every suggestion on there website with no luck. You can only chkdsk /f - chkdsk /r so many times before running out of patients with it. I contacted them today (7.29.2006) and chewed them out about it, so hopefully they get back to me soon with an answer. If they do, I'll get back here with their solution to this problem - If they do indeed have one.

Error 1527

I had the same problem all weekend. I tried everything (chkdsk /f, chkdsk /r multiple time) and got the 1527 error message when I tried to merge C: (physical) and D: logical. Did Symantec ever get back to you.

Exactly how are you using PM...booting from the CD or from

floppy disks ?

If floppy disks ...what OS are the floppies based on ... MS-DOS or Caldera DOS or ???

VAPCMD

PS...If your data is on D: .... I strongly recommend leaving it there. While it doesn't save the day if the HDD dies ... it does give some separation between the OS, APPs and data (?)plus working room on C: to get the HDD restored, corrected and back up/running without destroying data on D:.
