Hey Stephen,
I about pulled my hair out with this same problem. I had NAV 2004, and trying to get rid of that and install NIS 2005. I did the clean boot and followed every direction to the T...Ha! I finally went to the keys and had to remove any key that had to do with Norton or Symantec, and then it worked. You also have to do an update right then for it to start working. I did not have any problem with my add/remove, sorry I cannt help any there. Symantec needs to really work on their add/remove program because it doesnt do the trick! I had to contact microsoft and reactive my windows due to so many attempts...I thought "OH NO!" Good luck, I hope this helps you maybe, and any one else that reads this. wizmom_00
Hey!
I am trying to install Norton Internet Security 2005. I had a previous 2004 version which I tried to uninstall first before installing 2005. The uninstall did not work properly though, so I followed the instructions on the symantec website to remove anything that had been left from the previous version. I then tried to install 2005 and I was able to insert my product key and start the installation, but after a short time, I got the error mesage 'This MSI must be launched on setup' and 'Setup was unable to remove a previous version of the product'. I have also noticed that since following symantecs instructions and using the programs they give to remove old versions, the following have appeared in my ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS list all with small computers to the left of them but no details or 'change/remove' button and so cannot be removed.
CC_ccProxyMSI', 'CC_ccStart', 'ccCommon', 'NortonInternet Security, Antivirus and Antispam.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get 2005 to work and how to remove all these items from my add/remove program list?
Many thanks.
Stephen
