Norton Common Client Update

Mar 7, 2004 11:17PM PST

If I am in the wrong forum, please let me know. I am running Windows XP. Everything was fine until yesterday morning, turned on computer and a box popped up telling me that Norton Anti Virus has detected an internal problem. So I un-installed and re-installed it 3 times. During that time I was running Live Update. Everything is fine except I cannot get my Common Clients to update. I get an error message of LU1806. Went to symantec and they want me to remove it manually, included messing around with the registry, that I am leary of. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can resolve this? Can someone please tell me exactly what are Common Clients. Is my computer safe to use at this point? Would appreciate any help at all.

unicorn,

Sorry you have had no response. I cannot help you with Norton A/V which has been plagued in recent times with problems. I used the NAV 2003 software until recently and left for the reasons you are having.

Downloaded and installed AVG 6.0 Free and have been very satisfied with the results. If you have an interest get it here http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php . Scroll to bottom of page.

You will receive a better response to an issue of this type by posting in the "Virus and Security Alerts" forum.

Best of luck!

Happy
