Norton Anti Virus question

by MKay / September 17, 2004 1:18 AM PDT

My subscription was due up update and I had initially decided not to renew it. However, my son picked me up the norton CD and so I decided to install it. I wanted a clean install and Removed it in the control panel Add/remove. Then restarted. I immediately was infected with the Klez, which I had had 3 or 4 months ago. luckily I still had the removal tool. But I was quite upset because I assume Norton unleashed it. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening if I decide to remove Norton again?

You said that you uninstalled NAV, restarted the machine, then found the Klez virus immediately after restarting? Assuming that you followed Norton's instructions to only have one antivirus running on the computer, after uninstalling NAV, how did you find the Klez virus if you didn't have an antivirus program on the machine?

Norton wouldn't have "unleashed" the virus, but a System Restore usage may have, or possibly something else. What was the file name and where was it found?

Just tying to pin this thing down.

Hi Grif, I didn't know there were special instructions for uninstalling and I did have AVG running. I don't remember the message exactly but it went something like the program you are try to start can not be started or something like that and then the hp address to it. I remembered that happening when I had Klez and ran the fix and it's been OK. But at least I know now to go to there site for special instructions. What I did was remove it from the ad remove programs and then go to my computer/properties/ programs and remove it there .Dum,da dum dum !!!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
