Norton and Symantec Cannot be Removed

by hunterofstuff / March 1, 2009 9:07 AM PST

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 with Vista that I bought within the last couple years. The first anti-virus that I attempted to install was Norton Antivirus, but I found it to be extremely annoying to deal with. I attempted to remove it from my computer using the uninstall feature and deleting all related files from Program Files, and it seemed to work. When I downloaded Avast! for free, it completed the download fine, but now when I turn on my computer I get a warning that says it is conflicting with Norton Antivirus (which I thought I had gotten rid of). Can someone please tell me where I could look for the last remnants of Norton Antivirus I need to get rid of so that Avast! will work?

Go to click customer service, then dowloads. Click Norton removal tool in bottom left corner(in red lettering). Pick Norton 360 or whatever is on your system and follow instructions from there. When it ask if you want to back up Nortom for future use bypass that and go to step 4

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
