karma,
In Windows XP, much like when running the onboard Chkdsk/Error Checking program, you'll need to restart the computer before "fix errors automatically" will work. The drive must be freed up in order to do a full disk check. Error Checking can be done in Windows XP, without Norton's DD, by opening "My Computer", RIGHT clicking on the C drive, choose "Properties", then in the "Error Checking" section, place a CHECK mark in both boxes. Click on OK and the computer will need to be restarted. It will automatically run the Disk Check/Error Check at that time.
Hope this helps.

hello, at my work comp i am currently running windows xp pro, along with norton systemworks 2004 profressional. anytime i run the disk doctor application, a window pops up saying something along the lines of "the operating system or another process currently has exclusive rights to this drive or some of its files. norton disk doctor cannot continue to repair under these conditions. a repair can be scheduled later by unchecking the 'fix errors automatically' button."
i suspect that the new version of aol 9.0 and it's add-on "aol cumputer checkup" could be the problem, but i am unsure. has anyone else experienced this problem? or can anyone provide insight? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks much.
