Noob question

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I started looking thru the forum, but its so long, so... What is the most effective/secure antivirus-firewall bundle, or individual programs? Is Norton the best? I hear mixed reviews. One thing I keep hearing is stay away from freeware, but on the otherhand, some have better security, what to do?

so will be up to you to make a personal choice as to what you like. I use AVG ( The free version is very good) Zone Alarm Free is very good. Ck my profile and everything I use is free except AVG Pro.
My pc stays clean and have not had any problems.
I would also suggest SpywareBlaster.

TURN THE MACHINE OFF.

I think that's close to 100% effective.

If your willing to except something less than 100% then AVG and ZA seem to work just fine.(price is right)

I suspect that when an AV or Firewall product jumps out ahead of the pack the boards at the V+S forum will light-up.

So... stay low, keep moving, read the V+S forums often.
