I don't think your ryzen has an igp so plugging the monitor into the mobo won't work.
Since you used pcpartpicker post a link to what you built.
I appreciate any help here, but please keep in mind I'm a total noob and don't know a lot of the technical jargon.
I just put together a desktop with an MSi B350 motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 5 cpu, and an EVGA Geforce GTX 1060 GPU.
I think the GPU is not being detected. I turn the pc on, it detects the CPU, then the VGA. I know this because a red LED comes on indicating those components on the motherboard, then turns off. Then boot led turns red, but will not turn off because the GPU led also turns on, which I think is saying that the graphics card is not being found. The GPU's fan does not run either. I do not know if it has any lights to indicate that it is on and running.
Obviously, my monitor stays black. I have my HDMI cord plugged in to the mother boards hdmi slot. I thought the motherboard could output to a screen by itself.
I have the GPU plugged into my power supply in VGA1. Should it be in SATA or something?
Before you ask about the power supply, I got all these parts from pcpartspicker.com which checks for compatibility -- additionally this was a recommendation of parts from a professional.
Thanks for any input.
