non-Shuffle Flash Player for Mac?

Aug 16, 2005 12:39AM PDT

Okay, so here's my dumb dilemma:

I'm looking for an mp3 player with the following specs:

1. 1 GB Flash HD
2. Macintosh/iTunes Compatible
3. LCD Screen showing artist/song/etc.

So I suppose I'm a traitor for being a Mac user who DOESN'T want a Shuffle, but the other players out there seem to have better features (i.e. a screen) for about the same price. My main concern is compatibility. . . I've heard that the Rio flash players work well with iTunes, but most of the reviews I've read date back to 2003 and I wanted to know if anybody had more recent intelligence/experience using other brands with the Mac OS. (I'm on OSX 10.35, I think).

I also realize that if I'm going to pay $150 for a flash player, I might as well drop the extra $60 and get an iPod Mini and 4-6 times the storage, but I'm also concerned about the "moving parts" issue. . . I live in NYC and whatever player I end up with will get plenty jostled. And 1Gb sounds like a small enough number to keep me honest. . . I don't need my whole music collection, just enough to get me through the day.

So, any recommendations?
