Non-recording MP3 player appears to be recording??

Mar 10, 2008 8:22PM PDT

Dear Gurus
I'd be very grateful if you could settle a (weird) argument for me.

I have a cheap non-recording MP3 player, (which incidentally, occasionally shows spurious and badly-translated messages on the display)
Have you heard of any circumstances under which the display may show a 'record/'recording' type message, given that it doesn't have the ability to record??

Weird, I know, but any help grateful

Cheers
D

I have a few people showing me Ebay China made players that appear to be buggy. The display screws up from time to time.

Weird argument !

Hmm, I also had a cheap one, and I think the firmware was knackered, which meant that it would spontaneously turn on and play stuff !
Also, I used to use an (old) bit of spftware which used to convert files to MP3 format and name them in the format
'rec001.mp3, 'rec002.mp3' etc, which is of course the same format that you'd see when using a player which *did* record, which means you may see 'rec001.mp3 and the usual timer ticker thingy.
btw You are v sad for having arguments like this !
