Non Logo Tested Drivers !

Mar 21, 2004 8:44AM PST

My Microtek scanner driver for Windows XP has not passed Logo and Compatibility Testing with Windows XP. I get prompted by a Windows Dialog box advising me not to install the Driver ! Am I better off trying to srearch for a Windows XP Driver for installing this hardware ! Anyone have any working knowledge installing non logo tested drivers !
The Driver Is Scan Module V5.1 for a Vantas 3000 .
Thanks !

Look on Microteks site for updated XP drivers. Likely they will work. XP does not have all the latest info on your device. Create a restore point before the install as a parachute.

Let me just share that as a product isn't generating revenue, drivers will not get a logo or such "blessing" since such costs money. It's many thousands of dollars so if an out of production model does get a driver for XP, a savvy company will skip this expense.

You will likely not be able to find a "logo tested" driver.

I've found as well, running some older periferal hardware, that XP doesn't want you to install drivers it hasn't approved of, however, the option is usually there to do so(driver needs to at least be NT based) or a non approved XP based driver at the very least. If you can't find an XP driver, try a 2000 driver. The MS approved drivers often don't work as well as the non approved drivers(my scanner scans with a greenish hue with XP's approved driver) as well as my webcam appears greenish as well. After installing the latest drivers from the vendor's site, things work normally again. Personally i think the unsigned driver issue with XP is a royal pain. Anyone figured out how to turn that off yet?

Windows XP will work with UNSIGN driver updates its best to use restore so if there is a proleam then u can go back to a working pc.
As for turning the msg off goto system prop by pressing windows key Pause (above Page UP) and goto hardware then driver signing Happy
