non-ipod mp3 players for macs?

Jan 2, 2007 5:52AM PST

What are some good ones? A friend of mine is looking at the low to mid price range. I was thinking about a Creative Zen V Plus or a Sansa, but I don't think either of those are mac compatible.
Thanks!

I have been looking but to not much avail.

A normal USB key seems to work on a Mac, then why not a Mp3 player?
I don't get it really.

Anybody?? I am looking for something with a voice recorder that works with my Macbook Pro.
I am almost about to break down and buy an IPod and attach ITalk to it from Griffin Tech, which reviews say is the best combo, but I want something more integrated, Built-in for personal memos and not hassle of extra parts. And of course IT MUST WORK WITH MY MACBOOK PRO

Mac MP3

In my experience most MP3 players that don't require proprietary software (i.e. do Drag & Drop) work fine with a Mac. I suspect you can use iTunes to rip CDs to MP3 (though personally I'd rather have root canal work) and then just move them onto the player.

Frankly if you're going to have to use iTunes anyway you might as well buy an iPod -- good screen, reasonable controls, reasonable sound pity about the price and the factory replace battery.
