Resolved Question

Nokia Lumia 2520 or Nexus 7 (2013) ?

Feb 24, 2015 12:19AM PST

Hello,
I'm a Student looking to buy a tablet (mostly for reading books and taking notes and browsing). I'm interested in one of those 2 tablets and I can't decide which one would be better suited to my tasks. I like the Nokia one because it's 10 inch display is comfortable for reading and browsing. However it is running RT version of Windows and I'm not sure for the future of this "OS" compared to Android OS (with large availability of apps on the play store compared to RT apps of Windows store). Also I'm in China, so a VPN is a necessity. I can easily find a VPN on Android but I don't know for Windows RT. Any suggestions?

As I had a Surface RT for a time I can write what a mixed bag that was. It's so locked down that I couldn't keep it. Good riddance. Microsoft also dumped it IMO as we read http://www.rte.ie/news/business/technology/2013/1128/489752-microsoft/

I'm guessing you are shopping for bargains but there is a Nexus 10 as well as iPad and others. If you get the RT, be sure to hammer them down to about 99 bucks?

Going for Nexus 7

Thanks, I appreciate it. I think I will go for the nexus 7 (2013). I read that Microsoft is going to dump RT in 3 years and I'm guessing RT tablets are going obsolete before that ( I don't think any developers are going to invest their time in it). Even if the Nexus 7 is smaller, it's still a more money-value product.

From my view and others, RT is already gone.

It's rarer than a BlackBerry.
