Nod32 and other antivirus

Aug 26, 2007 11:33PM PDT

Is Nod32 a decent antivirus program? Does it stop all that Norton stops? Are there any realy good free antivirus/spyware programs out there or is a paid program the way to go?

Hi - I threw Norton out the window some years ago. There are some very good free ones. I have been using AVG Free and it certainly does the work. Good luck - Amos

On both counts. Nod32 is a decent AV program, and there are decent free ones, like AVG Free. Viruses are on the decline these days, malware is the chief concern. While you might be able to classify viruses as malware, I'm talking specifically about programs that attach themselves to other programs like Internet Explorer.

You don't need as much in the way of virus protection anymore, you need good malware protection, and it doesn't get much better than not using Internet Explorer or anything based on it.
